Transitions and Changes

After living most of my life here in Wisconsin and calling it home for forty plus years, I am leaving. It is with sadness, I leave; I grew up here and did most of my schooling here, too. I've worked various jobs and made lots of friends while calling this state home. But now it is time for me to leave. To turn the page and start a new chapter in the book of my life.

To commemorator this change, I am posting a painting, I call "Crossroads." Painted a few years ago, the painting is a nonrepresentational abstract done in iridescent colors of white, blue, copper and my fave, gold. With a painting knife, I applied the paint directly on the canvas and used the knife's edge to create the occasional line and a couple of X shapes. It is this hinted at shape that inspired me to call it "Crossroads."

I am at a crossroads in life as I prepare for big changes: a new state, a new home and a new job. No longer will I be hundreds of miles away from family, but instead will live nearby. I am looking forward to this change. Though the goodbyes are sad, I am happy and grateful for this opportunity to try something new and have new adventures.

Though many things are changing, one thing is staying the same; I will still be making art.

See you on the Flip Side. -- Jolie
